Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of heroes who will split off from the central cast to begin their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his personal gain, entering the secret base, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.

The traitor then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, north of the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks revenge.
  • The adventurer has experience in the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could assist the team reach places they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Questers and Strategists groups.

Viewers can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
